Acoustic Engineers are responsible for providing engineering expertise on the monitoring and control of noise levels. As well, they design methods to collect data on sound levels such as during a rocket launch and use this data to architect these environments to achieve the desired acoustics as per engineering requirements and provincial/federal regulations.

What you do
An Acoustic Engineer performs some or all of the following duties:
- Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems
- Analyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structures
- Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs
- Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
- Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates

- A natural aptitude in science and mathematics
- Enjoy analyzing engineering problems and finding solutions
- Able to work with high amounts of focus and patience
- Able to effectively use transducers and other sound measuring instruments
- Able to work well with other professionals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
