What you do
An Industrial Electrician performs some or all of the following duties:
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
What you need
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Excellent background in mathematics and the sciences
- Ability to perform basic calculations and read blueprints
- Ability to follow instructions and be comfortable working with tools
- Good eyesight, colour vision, and hand- eye coordination
